Open die forged shapes produced by Micon Forge and Flange are used in a wide range of industries. The forgings are used in the following industries – Gas and oil exploration, gear manufacturing, aircraft and aerospace, energy and power generation, defense, automotive, heavy industrial, manufacturing, general metalworking, petroleum and chemical, mining and turbine, ship building, construction, fabricated metal, pulp and paper and food.
Open-die forging, also known as free forging or smith forging, is the process of striking a hammer to deform a piece of metal, typically placed on a stationary anvil. Another approach is to use compression to press the metal between simple dies. These simple dies are typically flat, semi-round or v-shaped.
GEAR INDUSTRY
Gear blanks, step shafts, single and double hubs, sleeves, cylinders, trunnions and other shapes or gears.
OIL AND GAS
Forgings for deep water, offshore and land-based oil and gas exploration or production
POWER AND ENERGY INDUSTRIES
Forged shapes and seamless rolled rings for turbines and other power generation machinery or hydraulic applications, including gears, shafts, hubs and flanges
TRANSPORTATION INDUSTRIES
Forgings and gear blanks for bridges, tunnels, waterways, trucking, off road heavy equipment, rail, ships, aircraft and military transport vehicles and weapons
SHIPBUILDING INDUSTRIES
